Keep the promises you've made

by e LIZ a beth   Oct 20, 2006

When she was young.
she made a promise to herself
always be happy,
stick up for those that matter,
keep an open mind to new things,
&& don't set yourself up to get hurt.

and as she got older
she added onto that promise.
keep your head up high,
don't worry about what people think.
and most of all,
let the people that mean something to you
know what they mean to you.

slowly the girl started realizing
it was hard to keep that promise.
but she always did.
and then one day, she met a boy.

the boy made her feel like she mattered
she cared for the boy, so she told him how she felt.
he said he felt the same way,
which made her very happy.

and once again she added onto her promise.
never let him go.
and that's where her promises stopped.

the girl got tired of making promises to herself.
that she feared she couldn't keep.
she hasn't yet let the boy go.
she keeps all the promises that she made.

and one last promise she will ever say.
is make no more promises.
but keep the ones you've made.
