Her Story

by cassie   Oct 20, 2006

She slashed her wrists
Way up high
The screams were no,
Peaceful lullaby.

The blood ran down
Her fragile arm,
It was three years ago
She started self harm.

Cutting and purging,
Everything she knew,
She met others
Just like her too.

Back to the story
Thats in the past,
She knew the smiles
Wouldnt last.

The tears wept down
Her ghost white cheeks
No one knew,
Of her depression peek.

There was a time
It all got worse,
Tablets and pills,
She pulled from her purse.

Fast forward now
Until last year,
Her weight and image
Were her biggest fear.

Purging and starving
Throwing up her food,
Slashing away
When she saw herself nude.

Three months later
Down the track,
She lost 30 kilos,
Self esteem-is what she lacked.

Months went by
Losing 10 kilos more,
Still unhappy until one day
Her reflection, she saw.

Scared herself stupid
She was out of her mind,
But this disease wasnt
one of a kind.

Forced to stop
She pulled away
And now she writes this,
For her 15th birthday.
