Late night shopping

by Tiny Reader   Oct 20, 2006

Bustling around in my thick winter coat
Red gloves and a scarf to match,
The fairy lights from above shine like stars
In the darkness of the winter evening.

Bells ring in department stores
Where many Santa's sit
Making promises for gifts this Christmas
That most will not receive.

Stress is very apparant
But worn with a smile of mirth
As they collect last minute presents for loved-ones
On a late night shopping spree.

Sarah, this was a wonderful read. The imagery you create wit your words is astounding...I felt like I was right there with ya!

For some reason this poem made me very happy. The thought and feeling of the holidays always puts me in a good mood, or more of an aweinspiring emotion. The way you describe the feeling the setting, and the emotion is exceptional. Really great poem.
