Rosary Bullets

by Chris Rodriguez   Oct 21, 2006

Running the rat race looking for lust
Collective minds collecting dust
Trying to fill holes inside themselves
And men swarming to fill them
But not in the way you think
Pin down their sweetness
They seem to sink
So then why do they keep coming back?

The lady says she's had enough
They found her dead with a rosary around her neck

Flowing words never stop the clock
It's not just your mouth that has a lock
Rewinding constantly, living inside a moment
Women don't kill with their fists
They hang you by your strings
Until you suffocate, motionless
They seem to move on
So then why do they keep coming back?

The man says he's tough enough
They found him dead with a gun in his hand

The things I've held sacred
Are now all gone
Beliefs that helped me live
Are just obstacles
I'll say it plainly, screaming
I miss her and I wish she was mine
Times are gone for honest men
No one can live forever off a dream

Drown myself in memories
Until I disappear

Excellent poem. You have expertly captured the essence of despair and ironically the hypocricy of what we say and do.
