Will You

by Ruthie   Oct 22, 2006

It's just a mirror
I tell myself again
But every time I peep
It only brings me pain

Beauty's on the inside
That's what they say
So how come this battle
Wages every day

Every single magazine
Shows each flaw
From my nose and ears
To my very core

Each new imperfection
Dealt with by products
With each new page
Confidence destructs

Every where I turn
It's more in my face
From TV to Billboards
Modal bodies trace

In my room I'm safe
They can't find me here
But there's someone who can
Who takes all my fear

He bought me
On a rugged cross
Whose precious life
Was no small loss

Carefully he speaks
As I open our book
With each new page
I'm beginning to hook

Hook onto his words
And his view of me
His values and beliefs
Nudge me gently

Tell me I'm precious
And a jewel
The apple of his eye
Not just a tool

Someone he trusts
With his children’s lives
Worthy of response
My soul he revives

Don't listen to the world
And their nonsense
Listen to him who cares
Without any pretense

Who’s love for you
Goes through the ages
From 2000 years ago
And history pages

Through a garden
A close friend traitor
An unfair trial
And many a debater

A crudely scourged body
A thorny crown
The condemning of a nation
Without a frown

Carried a cross
Up a rocky hill
Was nailed to it
And left as road kill

He rose again
Victory in his hands
His story soon was spread
Through all the lands

He left you a legacy
A future, life anew
Now the question is
Will you leave one too?

AWWWWWWW! I love you! All your poems make me either cry with joy, cry with conviction, smile with "inner-knowing" if you will, or just plain want to worship!! This time, it was a little bit of all!! LOVE YA!
