The Little Girl

by TRAGiC BEAUTY   Oct 22, 2006

The little girl that was so sweet
The girl I used to know
The one that used to dance around in tu-tus
Putting on a little ballet show

The one that used to watch cartoons
Used to use finger-paint everyday
Used to color on the walls
Stuttered with every word she'd say

Used to run into mommy's arms
When mommy came home for the day
There's mommy's little girl
She would always say

They'd dance around the living room
While singing a song they both knew
Like something from Barney
Or something from Blue's Clues

Then daddy would come home
They'd giggle when he walked through the door
Yesterday he gave her a hug
Today he'd give her one more

The little girl she used to be
Is not her anymore
She changed, she's not the same
Different from before

She's on the computer 24/7
And the cell-phone's on her waist
She has a bunch of magazines
And make-up's on her face

She has a bunch of friends
That may not be the best
But they're the people she wants as friends
They're "better" than all the rest

And now she has a boyfriend
And they're happy as can be
She doesn't care if she's too young
Or what mommy and daddy think

Mommy and daddy are getting old
That means she is too
She's turning into a woman
And they don't know what to do

They know this is what happens
When the girls hit teen years
But to lose their little girl
Is their one and only fear
