Ernie

by Emily Lynn   Oct 24, 2006

The first day of my senior year
You showed up out of the blue
A country boy with a big heart –
No one will ever forget you.

You were always so full of life
Bringing a smile wherever you'd go
I can't imagine you gone
But you're better off up there, I know.

Perhaps heaven was getting too dull
And they needed someone like you
To brighten up the souls and lives
Maybe they needed you more than we do.

You were the first person to call me
And wish me a happy New Year
It's so hard to imagine you gone
When I can still feel you here.

My senior prom – you were my date
I'll never forget that day
You brought me a rose and said I was beautiful
You really made me feel that way.

No one can take away the memories
Of the person you were to me
You were always smiling and laughing
The true epitome of happy.

You were the life of every party
And the sunshine through the rain
You are in a better place
But we will always feel pain.

You inspire me to live my life
To the fullest in every way
I hope to honor you, Ernie
Each and Every day.
