Guardian Angel

by linds   Oct 26, 2006

Her scars tell a story,
the bruises show a past
of agony and tears,
heartbreak and fears.
But only a glimpse into this little girl's life
is all you'll ever see.
She hides everything behind that silly smile,
fools everyone with that childish laugh.

With every hurtful word thrown her way,
sends a crack so deep into he heart.
Just a tattered, beaten case of a soul,
The slightest touch bringing tears to her eyes.

Everywhere she goes, there's one thing
that always follows.
A simple chain with a broken locket
kept around her neck.
People stare, and people wonder,
and every time she answers softly

"It's for my guardian angel,
I don't know where he is.
Mommy said he would help me
to fix everything that's wrong.
I am yet to find this mystery angel,
but I know he's out there somewhere.
And I"ll always be waiting."

This leaves each person silent,
with a tear in their eye.
But when she sees them crying,
she says sincerely

"Don't waste your tears on me,
I never meant to make you cry.
But can you promise me one thing?
I need my guardian angel
more than ever now, if you see him,
can you tell him to stop by?"
