My Encounter With A Cloud

by Jessica   Nov 1, 2006

As I look out the window
Watching the clouds go by
I see an unusual shape
This face is staring at me
The smile grows wider
As I studied the figure
Wait a minute I know that smile
It's the kind of smile
That when you look at it you smile back
I watch as the face scrunches up
Until you can't see any eyes
There are only little slits
That's how I smile, a smile so big
That the cheeks make your eyes disappear
Now that I'm studying the face so closely
I realize it the face of someone I know
Who is oh so close to my heart
It's the face of my grandfather
It's the face of the man I truly miss
Staring at the cloud
The smile fades a little
Just enough so I can see his eyes
Then he winked at me
As if he knew what I was thinking
And if he knew exactly what was in my heart
I smiled and winked back
Just to let him know I heard him
No words were spoken
But it's that kind of thing that happens
Where no one has to speak and you understand completely
Out of no where a heart shaped cloud appeared next to him
I know what it meant and I whispered I love you back
I knew he heard me
He smiled and then the cloud disappeared
The cloud of my grandfather up in heaven
Watching over me, every minute of my life
I shook my head, he couldn't leave
But in my heart I knew he had to go
He was free of pain and torture
I knew I had to say goodbye
Before the wind swept him away completely
I whispered goodbye
Knowing in my heart he heard me
I let him go knowing how much I loved him
And how much I will always love him
He's free and pain free
I love you Grampa!
Always and forever!
