My Ship

by Tom Cheriyan   Nov 5, 2006

A ship came a sailing,
Sailing into my port,
Laden with goods exotic,
Treasures of all sorts.
Caskets laden with love,
Far precious than gold,
Boxes filled with friendship,
Flowering of possibilities untold.

I laughed and played,
sang and shared,
'Twas time for the ship to leave,
I heaved and sighed,
A teary farewell I bade.

Each day was long,
As to the horizon I gazed,
Longing for those sails,
Those decks to tread again.

My mind tossed endlessly,
Broken, aimlessly,
The noisy waves lashed onto the dark shores,
Rocking me with uneasiness.
The salty spray on my face,
Were tears of pain and loneliness.

But I know my ship will call again,
This time I'll be ready,
My heart is strong,
And I will sing once more,
This I know, we'll meet again,
This time, I'll come along.
