Lady Lullaby

by Cooper   Nov 5, 2006

Chime with a bell of death,
a lullaby beneath your shiver breath.
Whispers chase me down,
and spiral through my ears,
From a tune on, your burial gown.

A gentle tune of hollow
hearts and flower fields to follow.
Azure vocal rhythms through
summer lit afternoon delights,
I could hear atop murderous heights,
'Neath the rainy skies of rue.

Lady lullaby,
Sing me songs to ease
the suffering on my poet's hands.
Upon this soft wind,
my face it caresses to appease,
Sonnets of age grotesquely thinned.

Pluck the strings
and take your voice upon wings
on my gold carol harp.
My mind is lost in daze,
as if turned to stone by Medusa's gaze,
when your lullaby strikes my soul.
Lady lullaby,
never let your songs die.
