Vietnam

In 1965 Menzies sent us in a boat,
Tell me why did we get involved in that war?
Well firstly we were afraid of communism,
And second we were just another domino to fall,
Thirdly was our belief in forward defense,
And you cant forget ANZUS us, kiwis, and yanks.
Lastly we followed The US we were afraid at the time
That Indonesia was all of communist slime!
And thats why we went over to that place,
To be killed by Vietcong and have
Agent Orange sprayed in our face.
But back home people were also concerned,
So they stopped the tragic sixties perm,
And rallied together to let us have our say,
With the peace protests and moratoriums,
'save our sons' they say.
Well fire was involved as they burnt their
Resignation paperwork all the same.
Eventually we followed America away from the pain,
To return home, unwelcome,
Where they all called us names.
So we started to abuse substances like alcohol,
And the suicide rate was higher then the death toll.
