As I Am

by Lu   Nov 17, 2006

How many times have you reassured me
that you truly do love, with all your heart
yet still, I hear a hesitation in your voice
or, could it just be my imagination feeling
that I do not deserve such love

My moods by times, a destructive tornado
tearing apart anyone who stands in my way
yet you continue to hold me in your loving arms
wiping away my invisible tears of confusion
telling me "you understand"

Why have I been blessed with such a man
when it is so very clearly evident, that
padded walls are where my head, should lay
rather you tell me "you are there for me"
and to release my frustrated emotions

Standing so very tall afraid to be weak
a pact with myself to let nothing make me fall
am I just to strong to give in to past demons
you darn right I am, and do you know why
because I finally realize, you truly do love me
____________ As I Am__________________

Dedicated to the love of my life, Darryll !
Thank-you for always being there for me.

I really connected with this poem. I also had a man that was my rock. I lost him over 5yrs ago. Being ill is such a hard thing to carry in your heart and soul alone. I am so glad you have someone there for you. Excellent job on the poem. Cindy
