Bitter taste of a failed attempt

by Tainted Beauty   Nov 19, 2006

The tears pour out from tired eyes,
Spilling the secrets I have kept,
Remorse and weakness shine through,
The bitter taste of a failed attempt,

The world sees through my shell now,
Here I am, plainer than I will ever be,
I'm wiping away the mask now,
Tearing down the my false identity,

I ripe apart my life,
I'm still trying to salvage what is true,
I hate myself for all of this,
I hate lying to you,

I have worked so hard at this,
To find out now, that you don't see,
You have no idea what you have done,
You've forgiven yourself for hurting me
,
The tears are a flowing softer now,
I can feel my heart beat slow,
I reach for my pen, and scribble my thoughts,
This is what I've always needed you to know,

You claim you love me for who I am,
But you never really knew me,
Because what I knew you would love,
Is what i made myself to be,

I hope you understand now,
And have finally learned the truth,
I will love you forever,
But it's a shame you never knew.
