A New Start

Walking in darkness
searching for the light
looking for a savior
to make everything right

all my fears surround me
I have a feeling of helplessness
my body is so tired
but my soul is restless

I always had an emptiness
something was missing it seemed
hopes were all lost
and I had no dreams

then I remembered the words
my grandmother said
take your troubles to Jesus child
and lay down your weary head

I got down on my knees and prayed
God come into my life
take all the pain away, the trouble
and the strife

make me new again
release me from my sins
when I feel your power Lord
my new life begins

I will walk in your path Lord
do as you would do
accept you as my master Lord
I will faithfully serve you

use me as your example Lord
how you healed a broken heart
how you fixed a broken spirit
and gave it a fresh start

and when my journey is over Lord
let me walk on streets of gold
forever in your presence Lord
your hand forever to hold
