Fallen Under The Spell

by Laura   Nov 24, 2006

I have fallen under the spell of the blade
Unable to stop after the first cut was made
Overwhelmed by a state of depression once more
Found to be emotionally unstable than ever before

Shakily I make the initiatory slice into my wrist
A superficial slash as the targeted vein was missed
Steadying the razor that is now covered in my blood
Dripping steadily, not quite enough volume to flood

Encouragement gained seeing my reflection gleaming from the knife
No loved one is capable of deterring my final decision to end my life
I cut deeper and deeper believing I can silence my internal anguish and pain
Ignoring the burning sensation as the blood drops to the floor like heavy rain

Peace will only be found in the final resting place where I will be laid
In a world so self serving, no self-loyalty as my body I have betrayed
