Time and Time Again [Quatern]

by Mommy And Me   Nov 25, 2006

Time and time again, there you are
Sweet kisses trace my tender lips
Your hand glides across porcelain skin
As you bathe me with gentle love

Lathering me with gifts galore
Time and time again, there you are
When I am in your warm embrace
You make all my pain disappear

Laughter makes the smiles appear
Your dimples make tears melt away
Time and time again, there you are
Chasing away all of my fears

You are my very own true love
Always there when I need you most
Oh yes, no matter what I do
Time and time again, there you are

-- Quatern

Quatern
A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It is similar to the Kyrielle
and the Retourne. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of
stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza
four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme
scheme.
