Turning Back

by Christopher   Nov 26, 2006

Battered and bruised
You go back to the abuser
A feeling within calling you back
Confused, not knowing what to do
Would it be right or wrong
Is it even your decision to make
Are you a puppet dangling from strings
Afraid to make a move
To take a risk
The possibility of your strings becoming entangled
Making excuses for all the questions
You choose to return when there is other options
Options that make you more confused
But seem so right, so good to be true
You return time and time
Not forgetting that one
But pushing them back
Along with the feelings that arose
If the option is so much grander
Why all the confusion
He does not proclaim his love
But, allows it to be seen in his actions
The silent voice in the night
Calming your deepest fears
The strong arm keeping the sky from falling on top of you.
No matter your mistakes
His love never wavers
Your strong tower in a world of gusty wind
He follows your every move
Keeping a close eye
Always prepared to reach out and catch you when you fall
He will always erect you straight up
The passionate pat on the back
The warmth radiating from his being
The calm voice whispering in your ear
Saying that he loves you
