Lying flat on his back
Stiff as a board
Calm and peaceful
His eyes staring straight ahead
Smooth as marbles, shiny as diamonds
His soul at rest
His brain asunder
They called him a coward
There is so much more to him then this one action
Reactions to thoughts said aloud
With great strength he cut his wrist
Not one tear was shed
His mother came
Found him on the floor
He begged the paramedics to leave him
This wont be the last time.
As light slowly creeps across the horizon
He is thinking of his past
Feelings of despair fill his soul
A life filled with pain and grief
He cant take anymore
Sick of the doctors
tired of the whispers behind his back
The glare from his family
They called him a coward
He shrugged it off
An evil light glistening in his eyes
With a life so perfect many wonder
Why would he do such a thing
But his life was missing a piece
Maybe we didn't see it
Might just have been an illusion
Only one knows for sure
The cold steel
Slippery in his sweaty grasp
His actions so deliberate
He closed his eyes
Saw a magical place on the other side
For a spilt second
A slight smile
Then the thoughts return to anguish
His mother is startled
Startled by a loud noise
She arises from bed
Looks out the window
Only to see the sun rise
A single ray of light
Coming from the radiance of the sun
Her heart skips a beat
She runs to her sons room
She opens the door
Sobs turn into pure rage
Why why why
She reaches toward her son
With a bullet in his head
And sobs over him uncontrollably
As blood covers her hands
She turns, shakes her head and walks away
They called him a coward
How could anyone kill them self
It would have surely gotten better
The mother overhears the whispers
She begins to walk to her sons casket
She bends down to give him one last kiss
He opens his eyes
Gently whispering
He tells his mother he is sorry
He didnâwant it to come down to this
You dont know how much strength it took mother
That trigger was so heavy and the gun so shaky
But I am not a coward
And I squeezed that trigger
Mommy I love you
Good bye
Tears streaming down her cheeks
She turns to the crowd
Tears turning into sobs
She pulled the gun out of her handbag
Placed it in her mouth
As the rest of her family runs to her aid
she pulls the trigger
The nightmare is over
