No Regrets

by Twisted Heart   Dec 3, 2006

She promised herself, she'd live with no regrets
But as she sat and pondered this, she now had to confess
That as her life is shifting from moments lost in time
The emptiness of memories is etched within her mind.

She saw a girl turn to a lady, who stands alone
Because her heart was broken by a man who now is gone
She put her heart upon a shelf, and left it there to stay
Not letting it love once again, nor giving it away.

Her soul, she sheltered, from all the hurt and pain
By living in a loveless world, and there she still remains
Forever lost inside her thoughts, they live and not forget
Reminding her of what it cost to live without regret.

The haunting of the passing of a life she'll never know
Where love had found the seeds of dreams, and she watched them grow
Where risks were taken by her heart, and wings of love took flight
Would never come into her mind, on any given night.

She'll never know the heartache of love that went away
Nor feel the broken spirit, or hear the words that lovers say
She'll not have to reminisce, of a love that grew anew
From the scattered pieces of her heart torn right in two.

So now she sits in solitude, among her memories
Fading from her troubled mind and caught within her dreams
With passing thoughts that invade her soul, giving her no rest
She now resigns herself, to live a life with no regrets

I thought it was very neat how you had her want to live a life with no regrets and this meant a life without love, but in the end living without love was a regret....so it goes to show some things are worth the risk. A beautiful poem, very understandable, and well-worded!
