Three Spiders

by Tom Cheriyan   Dec 5, 2006

One day I saw three spiders,
Sitting on cobwebs,
Right behind the rear seat of my car.
No flies came their way,
Nor a bug stop to say hello,
The windows were shut,
So no prey came from afar.

They waited and waited,
In the closed space of the car,
Spinning their webs,
Hoping to go far.
Creatures in their world,
Displaying patience and diligence,
Doing what they know best.
In the closed confinements of my car.

Then it struck me,
That my life would be like theirs,
Stuck, entrenched in my world,
Not going very far.
Missing opportunities and growth,
At times even survival,
If I did not change my environment,
By stepping out of my car.
