Breakup

by Marc Carlson   Dec 5, 2006

WHAT?? He cries angrily and confused
The rage of a lion comes to him with these words
His blood runs through body, hearts pounds like thunder
His eyes open with a look that would scare the proudest of men
The adrenaline pumps through him and he is like a bull
Before his next words he closes his eyes and tilts his head upward
He thinks of nothing and takes a deep breath
Clears his awesome rage like a tide wave clearing the beach
He takes a second, and thinks before continuing this conversation
He takes in what she says with no emotion on his face
Mean while you can hear his heart breaking for miles
Like the sound of a car accident that lasts for hours
The pure explosion of pieces of metal and glass everywhere
He again takes in another deep breath before speaking to clear his head
He tells her he's sorry and loves her and bows his head in disappointment
As he is walking away, she has a look of sorrow on her.
You can see the mix of emotions on her face
The disgust, anger, and hurt are in her expression
But here eyes show the despondent, dejected, remorse
That she has for what she has just done
But there is one most telling sign on her face
That is the tear that rolls down her face, beside her nose and just over her slightly capped lips
She wears it like a badge, to truly show the love she still has for him
As he drags his feet in the dirt, he takes on last look back
He sees the face of the angel he fell in love with
He sees the tear on her face and knows its meaning
He gets into the car and knows its better this way
There will be no more tears, no more pain, no more hurt
No more compassion, no warmth, no more blissful wonder
This heavy hearted soul starts the car and leaves
Without looking back he knows she is watching him as long as possible
This helpless man makes it home and shatters into a million pieces
Like glass after falling two stories
As he tries to sweep up the pieces he finds one piece not broken
Bruised, battered, and beaten, but still in one piece
It is his heart and knows he has to continue
A new feeling rejuvenates him as he looks into his heart
He sees the joy, compassion, radiant nature he has
He cries and clears his heart
This renewed soul will always remember the greatness of her
