Mask

by Marc Carlson   Jan 11, 2008

I see and hear everything you say
But do you?
You say and do things that I don’t understand
But do you?
You do things to impress others
But do you?
You act like you are confident
But are you?
You wear this mask, hiding yourself
But do you know?
You hide yourself from everything, even yourself
But do you know?
If you took this mask of what would you become?
Do you know?
If you took it off, would you just place another on?
Are you afraid of your own truth?
Do you even know that mask was on your face?
Do you know now?
You concern yourself with the petty things in life
Do you know they are petty?
All these things you concern yourself with will leave you empty
But do you know?
As a person you are paper thin
But does this bother you?
