Sitting, Waiting, Longing for her call

Sitting, Waiting, Longing for her call
Hoping for the greatest gift of all
His heart is beating like a Cheetah at full speed
The phone rings, Loud like a church bell
His heart jumps out of his chest
It is her and he waits for what the news is
She tells him that she is staying with her decision
The tears start flowing, as his world stops
You can hear his heart breaking
Like glass into a thousand pieces
He tries to find out what it is
What he did wrong, what happened?
But she can't, she just says it's what see feels
He tries to tell her and explain his undying love for her
It's over and he just can't accept it
It will never truly be over for him
He will always love her and will always want her, forever
Trying to show her that she maybe wrong is killing them both
He knows he did everything she asked
He knows he tried his best
He knows she should be with him
But it isn't happening
He was hanging on to that last shred of hope
And it was pulled like a rug out from his feet
The truth is it isn't the falling that hurts the most
It is trying to understand why
Why did we give up on love?
Why did we lose it?
How did we lose it?
When did it happen?
And what could he have done differently?
