Breed a killer within me [quatern]

by Elynnka   Dec 7, 2006

Breed a killer inside of me
Make me what I'm meant not to be
Alter my core - make it decay
And twist everything that I say.

Burn my eyes so I cannot see,
Breed a killer inside of me;
Turn my heart to stone and then kill
Everything that once made me thrill.

Crush my feelings, make them dust
As my pure inside starts to rust -
Breed a killer inside of me
Then chain me up, let not me free.

Bulid fake anger within my head,
Then make me wish you would drop dead -
Set me off in a murder spree,
Breed a killer inside of me.

A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It is similar to the Kyrielle and the Retourne. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme scheme.
