Another Night Survived

by laura anne   Dec 7, 2006

This poems is about a soldier in Iraq.

Dark as night and a musky scent,
A small window to peer from as i do my duty
Heavry breathing begins, hands shaking uncontrollably.
Heart racing out of control, my eyes try to focus.
The sounds of bombs can be felt in my chest
Every mistake made, now running through my head.
Thinking about the "what ifs" and waht could be different
Holding the sniper, fighting for life.
A calm noise sweeps the land, the cloud slowly rises
Looking down on defeat, lays the breathless bodies.
A sigh of relief, another night survived.
