Last Christmas

by Josh Barrett   Dec 9, 2006

She only expected,
to see the doctor,
not to hear the news,
of the end.

She wishes she could tell her family,
but she knows they will cry,
but she has to do it,
because she cannot lie.

Her toddler runs around in circles,
laughing and kissing her,
then screams \'mommy\',
I love you.

A tear only runs down the mothers face,
and she cries in her room,
and her husband comes in,
and hears of her doom.

He cries unbelievably,
and she does the same,
her daughter comes in,
holding a box.

\'Mommy, here is you Christmas gift\',
and she hands it over,
and she opens it,
and her daughter shows her.

It is a picture,
of her mommy,
who is holding her,
clear as the sea.

Her mother hugs her,
and then gives a kiss,
and a tear runs down her face,
as this was her last Christmas.
