Just Another Drunk Driver

by TRAGiC BEAUTY   Dec 12, 2006

Everyone wonders what he could have been
Everyone wonders what he could have done
Everyone wonders who he could be
Now no one will know, because he is gone

He decided to take a drink of that liquor
Just one teeny, tiny sip
That's how it all got started
But the bartender kept getting tips

He didn't know how to stop once he started
He didn't have a care in his mind
He had no idea that that night
Would be the night he died

He kept drinking shots
Drinking them down
He just kept drinking
Until he fell to the ground

"Oh no, I'm fine"
He said to the guys
They wanted to take him home
But he said he could drive

He got into his car
Not thinking about life
He got into the car
Not knowing it wasn't right

He sped down the road
Crashed into the tree
His eyes went black
And he couldn't see

His parents so sad
Lying over his bed
The doctor came in
And told them he was dead

They lowered the coffin
Down into the ground
He went into the dirt
He slowly went down

He told his friends he was fine
But it turns out it was a lie
He had too much to drink
They let him drink and drive

I can relate to this poem. My niece and uncle were killed by a drunk driver. And the driver that killed them goes to the same prison my cousin goes to. Good job with this poem.5/5

OMG... poems like this always make me feel so sad yet kind of angry at the same time.
There is NO excuse for drink driving. If you've been drinking just get a taxi and take the car another time. There;s no need for it.
    A very powerful poem.
    Well done on writing this
