A Fallen Soldier

by Josh Barrett   Dec 14, 2006

The man kissed his daughter goodbye,
and wiped his wife's shedding tears,
not worrying how long he would be gone,
no matter how many years.

He jumped into the car,
the car that would take him,
to the awful place,
that would cause his demise.

As he started his first attack,
the first time and last he would see,
the fire and destruction,
the dreadful enemy.

He shed a tear,
but only cause he would not see,
his beautiful wife,
and his precious baby.

The funeral is held,
at their house today,
and the baby asks,
'Is daddy coming home today?'.

The wife cried,
as she told her,
'Baby, he is gone,
our fallen soldier'.
