The Girl Next Door (about abuse)

by **Just Her**   Mar 26, 2004

Ignore the pain
Act like you don’t hear them cry
But inside you feel it
Everyone hides behind lies

You can’t turn away
When there’s so much to face
You may not hear his fist
But tomorrow you’ll see her face

Yells heard through the walls
But you try not to care
What kind of dad would do this?
Why isn’t her mom there?

The next day she won’t say a word
But you’ll see her black eye
And she’ll never tell you
But you know exactly why

These days turn into weeks
Suddenly you don’t hear them fight
Was she finally saved from misery?
Is she okay, will everything be alright?

You don’t see her around
She doesn’t go to school anymore
And that daily route she used to walk
You don’t see her there like before

One mourning, while reading the paper
You come upon a name you’ve seen before
You read the article and tears start to flow
A girl’s daddy killed her, she lived next door

--> This is not a poem based on a true story but i think its important that we are aware of what is happening right infront of us, we can save someone. Please comment and vote
