Hazel Eyes

by Jeff   Dec 21, 2006

I haven't held the moment,
When ourselves would meet.
It's shameful how our world is bent
With such lies and such deceit.

It kills me that we're different,
And that no one understands.
To me, you were heaven sent,
But you didn't meet the demands.

It's tragic to hear the tales,
Of how any man is made wrong.
Painful to watch as all else fails,
I wish that all could be so strong.

I heard your voice for a day,
I remember my laugh and smile.
Through pain you made a way,
And made the time worth while.

The bullet pierced through the skin,
Into lungs as his body weaken.
Should not one be safe from sin.
"Protect us all!", I beacon.

Why must man fight with guns,
With fists and words and hate.
Where are all the almighty ones,
Who can alter the course of fate.

I don't blame God for what occurs.
Fallen tears surely dry.
Even though his word assures,
I can't help but wonder, why?

I never can understand how.
I wish that I could see.
I feel your hazel eyes right now.
Looking down on me.
