What You Mean

by debbylyn   Dec 26, 2006

When I was young and feeling sad,
I'd run to Mom, she's all I had.
If I fell down and skinned my knee
I knew that Mom could comfort me.
And grandma always had a way
To talk and soothe my tears away.
A comforting smile, her sparkling eyes
Could make me laugh instead of cry.
My dog or cat would lend an ear
To problems no one else could hear.
Dad would tell me strong and loud
To be myself walk tall and proud.

Now I'm older and it seems
All those times were just in dreams.
Now you're here and always strong,
You tell me where I might go wrong.
You give me love and comfort too
That's why I'm so in love with you.
You may not want to hear me say
That you brighten all my cloudy days,
Or when no one else can understand
I know you're there to lend a hand,
But remember now the love we share
And that forever I'll be there.

Ha. I recognize part of one of the lines here......maybe that's why that was stuck in my head. Another outstanding job.
