I knew the day would come.

by June   Jan 5, 2007

I always knew the day had to come ,
my eldest son wanting to meet his real dad.
That day came about three years ago ,
deep down I felt so hurt and sad.
Its understandable he wants to know ,
so for him I had to stay strong.
On my own I'd have a good cry ,
wondering what I had done wrong.
My son sat and wrote to his nan ,
told her his dad he wanted to see.
To my surprise a letter came back ,
it was from his dad addressed to me.
Becoming a parent had scared him ,
thats why he up'ed and left me.
He apologised for what he did ,
and now his son he'd love to see.
Next came that big meet ,
but I wasn't ready to see his face.
Like always my dad was there for me ,
said the meet could be at his place.
My son came home and seemed happy ,
he said he was glad to finally know.
It took time but I'm used to it now ,
and glad to see their relationship grow.
He may have hurt me along time ago ,
but its done and all in the past.
What matters most is my son ,
he now knows his real dad at last.
