When Life Hits

by Reggie Jay   Jan 9, 2007

Weighing in at 200 pounds
At a height of five feet, ten inches
The man of the moment
ME

You see, life has a weird way of waking you
And letting you know that its still there
That this path we walk isn't all roses
That there is still much to fear

We come in excited with a mindset and game plan
Then realize that there are things that aren't left in our hands
Then that little thing called reality hits
Then we're dazed and confused, and all we can do is sit

A 1-2 punch, like a heavy weight bout
Then the blood of truth spews from your mouth
BANG!!, Life gives you an uppercut to the chin
Then the lies you were told, rise like bruises from within

*DING, DING, DING*

That's the round of a year coming to an end
You're relieved that it's over but then you're at it again
And you know with each round it gets harder
But you also realize with every swing you're getting smarter

Life will hit you sooner or later, because that's life
Just make sure you're ready to fight

I liked it, and maybe it was just it being late, but it got choppy at times... but other than that, i loved the message it sent, i'm sry, i gave you a 4 but it should be a 5... they really need to have half votes in here! like 4.5... nice job though

Right from the start you know this is a great poem. the first para sets the fight off. the scene.

then it goes into describing it. so very well done. i loved it. so different from the rest.

    i gave you a 5.

All man, i love this one, i especially like the 4th stanza,

"A 1-2 punch, like a heavy weight bout
Then the blood of truth spews from your mouth
BANG!!, Life gives you an uppercut to the chin
Then the lies you were told, rise like bruises from within"

it has great flow, a 5/5!!! keep it up!!!
