Perfection

by Zoe   Jan 16, 2007

She fought back the hunger
She fought back the pain
She was dying inside
But a great body she would gain

There were better ways
She knew in her heart
But nothing had worked
An so her story starts

She left for school each day
Positive thoughts in her mind
But when she went to sleep
An empty tummy is all you'd find

She never ate breakfast
No lunch and no dinner
Because she told herself
This would make her thinner

She fought back the urge
To take a few bites
The goal she had set
Was an endless chain of fights

Fights between
Her body and brain
Her body begging
While her mind said refrain

Her body becoming weaker
Begging for nourishment
But still she didn't listen
And found a source of encouragement

She stood on the scale
To see what it read
With words like "fat"
Running through her head

Her friends were worried
What was becoming of her?
She just stopped eating
Why? They weren't sure

She used to have curves
That some would call perfection
But now people only saw bones
Pointing in every direction

Her face was becoming darker
She had lost her very best friend
But she knew everyone was jealous
Of her perfect body in the end

But the end was yet to come
She couldn't get out of this hole
She kept telling herself she was fat
When really she was like a pole

This is the end
Anorexia took her last breath
She just wanted perfection
She didn't know perfection meant death
