Quiet Serenade (part 2)

by Chris Rodriguez   Jan 19, 2007

The man went insane

He twisted his pain and confusion into something bearable

Why?

He saw a world where innocence is punished

Where genocide is rewarded and blessed

Where ideology is viewed as the only way to portray an idea

Where the riotous die and the meek flourish

Where the "truth" is shoved down our throats the moment we come into this world

Where following the single, straight, white line is what is expected of us...declaring you sane

The man followed the line and swallowed his pills

And in that lies the truth

Too much "sanity" is insanity

Our silent death keeps moving closer
And the serenade continues

"Where the "truth" is shoved down our throats the moment we come into this world"

Its so very true. Yet there is one thing I have realised. Some of us are fortunate enough to have a mind of our own, and stray away from the lies they feed us with. If only everyone were like that. Amazing job at this poem
