A Poem For Love

by Mags   Jan 20, 2007

How great a world we have
But who knows how long it will be
Before we see a world lost
Because our race knew not the cost
Of the anger and the sadness
That our wanting brought from gladness
How long before we find
What hate and greed together bind
Along with a will to be
The top, no one better than we
Will this rat race make us live
These lives that no one wants to give
Or will it make us believe
That greatness is ours to retrieve
Make it better try to pray
For a life of love each day
It is up to you to find
An understanding heart to bind
Come now one and all
To see the green before snow falls
Find the beauty and the peace
Of life within each and every beast
Love your neighbor as yourself
And take your heart back off the shelf
Show compassion before it's too late
For if you don't the storm won't abate
As it does rise all hearts will shrink
And all good things will start to sink
Like a great Titanic broken fast
Letting in an evil that intends to last
