Let Me Live

by Bill Turner   Jan 26, 2007

Death...
Stalking me...
Midnight...at the edge of my bed
Dark specter of the end...
You didn't cheat me out of my life...
Not this night
I know you will come again...
Again I will be ready
I fear you not
However, it is not time for me
You missed your chance many a time...
Now go and find someone who awaits you
I have too much life left to live...
I am no longer awaiting your open arms
There are plenty of souls to gather...
Willing recipients of the peace you offer
Not me...not yet...
Be gone...
Come back when I am old and life has past me by
For then I will seek you out...
When I no longer have something to give...
Let me live...

Bill I had to check the name not twice but three times to make sure it was you who wrote this. It is so different than your usual poetry and I must say I really love how uniquely it is penned.

Funny how we get to know the style of our favorites ... but you would have got me on this one .... lol
