IMPERFECT DREAM

by tlangelani   Jan 30, 2007

I lived in a perfect world
A world that cared for children
There was no child in the street
Every one of them attended school
Attentively without distractions
There were no orphans, just happy and smiling faces
Children were allowed to be kids
HIV/AIDS was defeated and rendered a distant memory
Women were cherished and there was
No battering and burgling of women and children
Old people were respected and listened to
There were no old-age homes or orphanages
Every home had children, mom and dad, grandma and grandpa

The world was kind, peaceful and patient
People smiled with beauty and no effort
There was no hate, just love and care
There was no apathy, just life aplenty
It was a painless, yet penniless world
Females were women
And males were men
Parity had been reached
Everyone was equal, black or white
Male or female, young or old

ALL OF THESE WAS POSSILBLE
I HAD MADE IT HAPPEN
UNTIL I OPENED MY EYES AT 5 IN THE MORNING
TO REALIZE IT WAS ONLY WISHFUL THINKING IN MY SLEEP
IT WAS JUST A DREAM
AND I WAS NOW WAKING UP TO THE HARSH NIGHTMARE THAT IS LIFE
THE DREAM WON’T BE REALIZED
SO IT WAS IMPERFECT!
