Could you live with yourself?

A beautiful life
Taken from us so soon
Through fault of another
That night brought only gloom

His life had just started
But on this dreadful night
Witnessed by many
Was a heart wrenching sight

The noise indescribable
He was hit with such force
The driver sped on
Did he not feel remorse?

As I approached his motionless body
Laying still on the ground
I searched for a pulse
It was not easily found

Staring into his eyes
As his life slipped away
Pleading with god to give him strength
To live for another day

Sadly my prayers weren't answered
In my arms he let out his last breath
From one person's drinking and driving
Had caused this boy's premature death.
