Ballad to a Mythical Enemy

by Sam Richards   Jan 30, 2007

Why do you play such cruel tricks
With such a fragile subject?
Contrary to your apparent belief
It cant take this forever

Mark out the painful course
For the shining reward at the end
Strive through bombardment, the pain and blitz
Only to be severed halfway through

As us mortals say,
No pain no gain
But as you dictate it, tyrant
For me its one and not the other

Never get a chance to taste,
The gold at the end of this torture rainbow
She keeps me going during the pain
Only to leave me to die

You have never loved me,
Luckless attempt after pointless hope
Have I done something to you?
Whats the point of this bullying grudge?

Next time you force me on a quest,
I always will be willing,
Just make sure I actually can succeed
I can hear you laughing from Earth...

Interesting. Awesome content. Loved the words and the mention of the rainbow was too cool. Excellent job. Beginning slightly rough but progresses smoothly throughout. Nice.
