Just a Man

by Nomad512   Feb 2, 2007

I know you think you've found your path
but it's just a result of the aftermath
buildings blasted to provide your escape
from the pressure building day after day

sometimes it's too easy to ignore
everyone telling you over and over
i'm telling you know, don't listen to them
it's the easiest way to the end of the end

you tell me it's alright, you understand
you tell me it's an angel that's got your hand
and even though he's doing everything he can
i'm telling you, be careful, it's just a man

you listen and nod and thank me a bit
then you continue on towards the end of all this
and I'm crying out but i don't think you hear
I'm crying out that the end is near

you tell me it's alright, you understand
you tell me it's an angel that's got your hand
and even though he's doing everything he can
i'm telling you, be careful, it's just a man

A man with the best intentions of course
but i'm telling you your path is farther north
past the swathe of destruction through the streets
to a little path laid down at your feet

you tell me it's alright, you understand
you tell me it's an angel that's got your hand
and even though he's doing everything he can
i'm telling you, be careful, it's just a man

I liked the repetition of that stanza. Not all the repetitions make a poem better, but this one did. well done!
