I am courage

by Tiffany   Feb 3, 2007

I'm with the girl who has the glasses
and tangled, frizzy curls;
I'm with the girl who wants love so bad
she's afraid to eat without rushing
to the bathroom to hurl.
I'm with the boy who hides his emotion
behind his curled fists;
I'm with the loner and the outcast
and the child who believes his only talent
is hiding the scars on his torn, tattered wrists.
I'm in everyone around you
and I'm everywhere you go;
I'm waiting with every lost emotion
all the love, hate, and anger
that you'll never want to show.
I'm hiding right inside of you
and I'm screaming to be free;
I'm sorry I've been lost so long
I know it's not fair or right
But I'm not one of your enemies.
I'm done with being silenced
By your fears deep down inside;
I'm ready to let all hell loose
To face the world
And never again be forced to hide.
I'm courage taking a stand for you
It may be late, but it's a start;
I'm here and I'm ready now
I won't back down
I'll help you though the hardest parts.
I'm aware hurts to show you're weak
And sometimes you can't handle it;
I'm the best protection you will find
And it may not make the hurt subside
but know that I'll never quit.
I'm always going to be here for you
I'm telling you no lie;
I'm asking you to think it out
Go ahead, you can scream and shout
But please, promise me you'll never be afraid to cry.
