A Result Of Anorexia

by Simple Sensation   Feb 6, 2007

Hey everyone,
I wrote this poem since its Eating Disorder Awareness Week. In UK its from Sunday 4 to Saturday 10 February 2007. Theres a different date for abroad i think.
I hope this poem will raise awarness about Eating Disorders.

---------------------------------------------

The girl knew for years:
Perfection couldn't be achieved,
Yet she craved perfection
And this is when it all began;

This young girl believed
She was nothing,
Worthless, a waste of space
Who shouldn't have been born.

She looked in the mirror
And loathed what she saw.
So she started skipping meals,
Exercising more and more...

Over the years she saw fat
Where there were bones
She was petrified of gaining a pound
Her self-esteem dipped to a new low.

She cried silently into her pillow,
Every night it was the same:
Depression took hold of her,
Ana was with her everywhere
Every single minute, of every single day

Her body couldn't take it,
It was all too much.
She died four years after it all began.

Heart failure: a result of Anorexia.

Wow, love, this was great. 5/5 def. thanks for your input on "Mia's Little Fighter". I know that there's a chance that something like this could happen to me, but I can't stop until I've reached My idea of perfection.

Wasn't as good as the other one, but it again was nicely written. this was a good topic to approach. i like the personification you gave out, using "nicknames" of the disorders. 5/5.
