Work Sucks

by Mike G   Feb 7, 2007

Here in my office
Staring at this screen
Bored out of my mind
Just wanting to scream
Waiting on the clock to turn
Hoping five will hurry up
Then we'll dash out the door
Everyone in such a rush
Day after day
Week after week
Months turning to years
It's the same routine for me
So I hide behind this desk
Trying to keep to myself
Like a monkey in a cage
A prisoner in my cell
I put on friendly smile
And try not to let it show
I'm slowly losing my mind
My co-workers will never know
They assume all is fine
And don't give me a second look
I hold my frustrations inside
More than any man really should
And yet here I sit
Still staring at my screen
Suddenly the clock strikes five
And thankfully I am free
Joy overcoming me
Like it's some sort of holiday
But then I remember I'll be back tomorrow
To endure another long and boring day
