Rebel (Eulogy)

by XSugarSexSuicideX   Feb 9, 2007

Everyday,
We open the newspaper,
And read the many words
That people use to describe
The life of one.
Tell me to write a eulogy for him,
And I'll give you one.
All in all,
I don't need thousands of words,
Just one.
Rebel.
My rebel.
Eyes glistening with mischief,
Voice splashed with laughter,
And every bit of attitude,
As different as can be.
Rebel.
Give him a soccer ball,
And he'll pick it up and
Take a free throw.
Give him a volleyball,
And he'll punt it over the net.
Rebel.
Sit under the bridge,
Watching the river flow past us,
Watching the sun set above us,
Even when people come to yell at us,
Rebel.
Nothing anybody said would ever stop him.
Of course not,
How many rebels pay attention to what
Everyone else says?
Rebel.
Especially when it comes to love.
Because he would speak his heart,
And in the bluntest ways possible,
There was no escape if he loved you.
Because you would always end up
Loving him back.
Rebel.
What more would describe him?
Rebel.
Just one word tells the world
Exactly what he was like,
Just one word tells the world
How much we loved him,
Just one word tells the world
How much we miss him.
And so one day,
The newspaper is read,
And on the first page,
A eulogy for a rebel:
Darling rebel,
Gone too soon.
Beloved rebel,
Missed by all.
Sweetest rebel,
We love you.
Dearest rebel,
Heed our call.
