Mendacious Months

Do you know that I want to forget you
Because of all the things you simply do
The way your smile brightens up my day
And how your eyes speak more than words can say

The way you turn around and radiate hope
As if I have fallen off a cliff and you were the rope
Having no other choice, I reach out my hand
And just like I hoped, you made me stand

That is exactly why I want to forget
Because things have changed since we met
They no longer bring a smile to my face
Instead, tears that just slowly race

Hope is no longer given by your turn
Since you turned away and left me to burn
And the eyes that once spoke more than words
Pierce my soul with everything left unheard

Finally, the smile that would shine so bright
Is so far away and barely within my sight
Sometimes, I would catch a glimpse of it
But even so, It couldn't keep my world lit

So as I ran and ran around the field
All the memories and feelings I tried to yield
My tears were washed away by the rain
It cooled my heart as the hurt waned

Tired and exhausted, thank God I am home
Drawn to the pen, I start to write this poem
Wanting to forget you just so, so much
I pass out, dreaming of one last touch

Opening my eyes, I sat on the bed
Seeing a torn part of my letter that read:
"Didnt you know I have forgotten you
Its exactly why my hearts broken in two"
