Superman

by ephemera   Feb 13, 2007

Why does the fate of the world rest on me?
Is it my call to tell them what is right?
I just want to go home and keep to myself
I don't want to be the hero tonight.

If I asked you to save them
Would you do it just this once?
The downfall of humanity rests on me
So do I really ask that much?

All it takes is a cape of red
A heart of steel to match your strength,
The desire to go on no matter what the cost
A willingness to go to any lengths.

Good poem. I like the way you married up the feelings of having the weight of the world on your shoulders with being a superhero. (Well - thats what I got from it). Thx for a good read.
