Since When Do Stepparents Take The Place Of The Real Ones?

by Behind Blue Eyes   Feb 18, 2007

Another tear
Rolls down my face.
The facts of life
I don't want to embrace.
A painful fury.
A silent shout.
And no one who will understand
To whom I can seek out.
A relationship
So difficult; So shoddy.
I'm giving up; reaching for a good fantasy.
From this world I disembody.
Since when was it so terrible
To want and need a mother?
Who took the responsibility that went along with that label,
Instead of taking on another?
I don't need anymore best friends.
I have more than I feel I deserve!
I hate the person you try to be.
It's not what I need or prefer.
When you've finally heard this,
And when you finally understand,
It'll most likely be too late.
Things have gotten too far out of hand.
You let him control you life.
And, indirectly, he's controlling mine.
So, when I'm gone, and you're buried in regret,
I'll be missing you, but I'll be fine.

Hmm... very sad, and an excellent poem. Hopefully one day, before it is too late, you show your mother this poem? You never know - it might make something click inside her heart. Just a suggestion, because its very well written with all your emotions being very raw.
