Saddened Boy In June (I love you Daddy)

by rebecca   Feb 25, 2007

My momma went to the mailbox today,
Just like she did before,
But today she pulled out a letter,
She froze and didn't move no more.

She just opened it and started to cry,
I didn't know what to do,
For I was just a young boy,
A saddened boy in June,

The words 'Daddy's Gone' touched gentle ears,
He can't be gone I scream, as the tears came down,
So I just stood there trying to take it all in,
Oh what a hopeless day, a terrible day in June.

Can someone tell me why they do it?
It not like it's some kind of game,
So can someone says its over,
Before another one touches the sky?

No one should have to go through this pain,
But I'm proud of what you did,
I'll miss you daddy and you know that,
I love you Dad so remember that,

My Daddy was a soldier you see,
Strong handsome, and brave,
So now I tell his story to the world,
Every Remembrance Day.
